    Thermal management is an important design consideration. The short-term consequences of heat on the LUXEON® LEDs include:

    • Reduction of luminous flux (light output)
    • Increase of wavelength (color shifts more towards red)
    • Reduction of forward voltage (voltage drop across the LED)

    The principal long-term effect of heat on the LUXEON® LEDs is shortened life. As a result, thermal management solutions play an integral role in any LUXEON® application.
